Subradial – Ice Diving –Regularly $11.99, right now just $7.99
Subradial is the musical alias of Tomasz Szatewicz, who was born in the small Polish town of Mragowo. He’s been creating electronic music for twenty years, and has previously released the albums Bioloophorm 1, Bioloophorm 2 and Biorephorm on labels such as dataObscura and AtmoWoroks. His more recent work combines drones, subtle rhythmic loops and textures into churning, visually evocative soundworlds.
Of his inspirations and approach, Tomasz AKA Subradial says: “I was always inspired by listening to the sounds of the environment… I use everything that sounds interesting and what I can further process to create the imagined soundscape, a vision of some place, express my emotions or moods connected with particular times or places, either existing in real life or just imagined/dreamed.” READ MORE/LISTEN TO MP3 SAMPLES.

Saul Stokes – Sleek Nucleus –Regularly $8.99, right now just $5.99
Saul Stokes is definitely one of the most popular artists associated with Hypnos (though he has also released a lot of music for other labels as well). This is Saul’s first self-released CD, in a distinctive folder-type package, but the music still has that recognizable “Stokes sound.”
Saul says: Stokes is pleased to announce the release of Sleek Nucleus. Eight effervescent songscapes that simply redefine electronic music. Each song is a crafted fusion of contemporary rhythm and melody sculpted from Stokes’ hand-made electronic instruments. A lasting and unforgettable electronic album, Sleek Nucleus continues Stokes’ 17 year history of merging sonic innovation with soulful song composition.LISTEN to “A Two Sun Summer” from this album.
Various Artists – Sounds Of a Universe Overheard-Regularly $8.99, right now just $5.99
Long-time Hypnos listeners may recall that we released a couple of compilations in the early years, The Other World and Weightless, Effortless, which included exclusive tracks by many of the all-time greats of this music scene. Both those compilations were very well-received by critics, DJs, and all kinds of listeners. So you could ask, and many have, why hasn’t Hypnos released any more compilations recently? Maybe because they’re a lot of work, much more work than a regular CD by a single artist, and time is always a constraining factor when running a small label by yourself. Do you do one compilation album, or do you spend that time putting together two or three regular CDs? Well now, Hypnos is no longer a one-man operation, so more time is available, and that has allowed us to take on the task of putting together these compilations.
The first compilation is Sounds of a Universe Overheard, a collection of ten tracks exclusive to this CD, created by a cross-section of ambient, experimental and soundscape artists from around the world. Included in this diverse group are more established recording artists who will be known to most listeners to these genres, as well as new, emerging names. We feel a compilation is most interesting when it varies from the familiar to the new. This disc covers all sorts of territory in terms of sound, from more musical and soundtrack-like sounds, to darker ambient, to pure sonic experimentation.
Taphephobia – Access to a World of Pain –Regularly $8.99, right now just $5.99
“The music Taphephobia makes is mostly based on manipulated guitars (except house of memories that is mostly based on sounds). Taphephobia try to get out the feelings he has at the moment when Ketil compose the music. The idea is to create a atmosphere that is sometimes scary, and sometimes beautiful, like for example a good thriller drama movie. Taphephobia is very skilled to create a cinematic atmosphere combined with personal feelings like fear, hope, hate, regrets etc… The main goal is to make the listener able to dream away with the music.” -Greytone Records

Resonant Drift – Full Circle –Regularly $8.99, right now just $5.99
“Resonant Drift return, bearing new worlds of sound that vary from wide, windswept desert-ambient vistas and hushed, cloud-shrouded meditation chambers to uncertain, grit-choked places better left unnamed. Tone and texture chart the course on Full Circle, a journey that goes as far inward as it does out, making it a trip worth taking over and over.” -resonantdrift.com

Steve Roach – Immersion: Two –Regularly $13.99, right now just $8.99
The second in an ongoing series of atmospheric zones by master sound painter Steve Roach, IMMERSION: TWO presents a subtle shift from the luminous steady state harmonic current of IMMERSION: ONE. On this 73 minute, long-form soundscape, a sinuous weblike mist seems to emanate from the speakers. Mysterious yet calm and introspective, this is the perfect sound environment for the deeper hours after midnight, or anytime a quiet, engulfing audio landscape is desired. If Nag Champa or Sandalwood incense had a sound, this might be it.
“This continuous zone, titled ‘Artifact Ghost’, has to be one of my favorites for late-night activity and sleeping. For years I kept coming back to it, as it always feels alive and never-ending, never beginning. This piece was a big part of the inspiration to start the Immersion series. An 8-minute excerpt from the 90-minute original was heard on TEXTURE MAPS, and after this glimpse of the ghost I was struck by how many requests there were for a long-form version.
“Perceptive ears will hear shades of this ephemeral zone as far back as ARTIFACTS, where I wove it into the fabric under the tribal-based grooves. Its smoky presence paid a visit on CAVERN OF SIRENS as well. If you were at any of my concerts in the mid to late 90’s, there’s a good chance you heard this piece setting the space before my performance. On IMMERSION: TWO I took the opportunity to live with this zone again, to fine-tune and melt the ‘Artifact Ghost’ even more, creating subtle movements and adding nearly subliminal openings along the way. I was shaping this IMMERSION: TWO version right up ’til the last moment. It’s playing in loop mode right now.”
Steve Roach – Immersion 3 (3CD) –Regularly $29.99, right now just $19.99
IMMERSION: THREE is the next chapter in an ongoing series of long-form, steady state “zones” created specifically as tone meditations for the living space. Gently immersive and especially effective at low volume, the non-dynamic nature of these spaces support focused day and night activities. Immersion is perfect for creative states, sleeping, reading, long hours at the computer and other functions where traditional music could be considered invasive. Minimal in nature and sonically uninterrupted without beginning or end, this 3-CD set of all-new material (nearly four hours long) brings Steve’s years as a sound painter of deep subtle spaces to a place of quiet mastery. This release is especially effective in dissolving the sense of linear time.
“My deeper self explorations into exploring the hypnagogic state, the place between wakefulness and sleep are in full bloom on this set. The inspiration to expand this realm of sound and the state it helps to induce is setting the course for an exciting new phase, which I will announce soon.” — Steve Roach
“Steve Roach continues to make a rarefied sound as the Mark Rothko of electronic music.” — John Diliberto, Echoes Syndicated Radio
