Luigi Turra – Enso

Regularly $10.99, right now just $7.99

With Enso, Turra has conjured up an organic and contemplative three-track epic, that resonates on subsequent listenings. Infused with Japanese sonic architectures and rigorous reductionist principles, this is a deeply meditative world of gently plucked instruments, and faded atmospherics, peppered with closely focussed tinklings and crystalline shards to add texture. Best appreciated in a solitary environment, these restful pieces will bring calm to an engaged listener. Turra deploys the Japanese instrumentation of Enso with the deft production skills of Kinetix’s Gianluca Becuzzi, and there is a warm ambience to the three tracks, entitled, not surprisingly, Enso 01, 02, and 03. Turra fuses a delicate substrata of drifting tones with elegantly plucked and struck instrumentation, that is never overdriven, and devoid of unessentials. There are no grand, overblown statements here, rather a gracefully nuanced set of pieces, a work that is a striking debut for Small Voices. -soundohm.com

RESOUNDING SCULPTURES is based on the concept of composition for blocks of sound” made in the 50’s and 60’s by Iannis Xenakis. Gianluca Becuzzi – (B)Haunted

Regularly $10.99, right now just $7.99

Most of the music on ‘(B)Haunted’ has an Industrial feel and seems to originate from live sessions that were enriched with electronic sounds and treatments at a later date. During the listening we confront ourselves with various sounds of a metallic nature and indistinct percussions, found sounds and gear, mechanisms and bells, scraped material and drones. Everything contributes to the creation of a soundscape that is always fascinating and arouse a lot of curiosity and attention on the evolution and direction that the music will take. Coming in a beautiful black’n’white artwork that aptly describes the industriousness of the author and the continuous musical metamorphosis herein contained, this is a very interesting album that will please fans of the old Industrial school and those devoted to sound-art and experimentation.

Gianluca Becuzzi/Fabio Orsi – Dust Tears And Clouds

Regularly $11.99, right now just $7.99

Packaged in gatefold cardboard cover.

“Following the previous albums released, among others, by Last Visible Dog and Digitalis, ‘Dust Tears and Clouds’ is the fifth full-length work born from the collaboration between Gianluca Becuzzi and Fabio Orsi. ‘Dust Tears and Clouds’ combines two CDs in a single release. The first disc, entitled ‘Dust Tears and Skinny Legs Poets,’ was recorded in 2007 and remained unreleased until now. It contains eight highly evocative tracks that feature American Folk samples recorded by Alan Lomax mixed with guitars and electronics. The second disc collects the three long tracks previously released by Foxglove back in 2007 as a 3×3” MiniCD-Rs extremely limited edition, with the welcome addition of an unreleased fourth track. Here Becuzzi and Orsi offers two solo efforts and two collaborative numbers; the voices and samples that graced the first disc are absent and the musicians create denser experimental plots soaked with field recordings, synthesizers and effects. Overall, the two Italian artists showcase a broad range of solutions and, once again, they create a rich work whose repeated listening will reveal more and more details.” –soundohm.com

Inspired by Jean Baudrillard’s essay of the same name, “The System of Objects” offers seven compositions combining field recordings, analogue textures, computer music and concrète sounds. Altieri e Favaron dig deep in the unconscious of the french philosopher, devising a hypothetical music score of his manifesto on the relations between objects universe and consumer society ideologies: drones and digital pulses, processed tapes and multi-layered frequencies make for a voyage to the borders of ambient, noise and radical experiments.”

LU – B-Interrail

Regularly $10.99, right now just $7.99

Digipak.

“LU is Italian artist Gianluca Porcu. Deep and wrapping digital soundscapes, dotted by micro-noisy granular material, resonant fields where time and space humble themselves in a single perceptive continuum. Contemporary, abstract, minimal, cold, intense and evocative drone music. Self-recorded instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar) are sampled, mixed with electronica, female voices, Marcel Duchamp cut up, and a soft tone touch of glitchy sounds. There is a very sunny Mediterranean feel about this music, though the 5th track is a bit darker… but sometimes it rains in Italy, too.” -coldspring.co

Gianluca Becuzzi [Kinetix] – Memory Makes Noise

Regularly $8.99, right now just $6.99

Digipak.

Kinetix – White Rooms (2CD)

Regularly $11.99, right now just $8.99

Double-CD. KINETIX is Gianluca Becuzzi, electronic composer and sound artist active since the first half of the 80’s. He writes: “The artistic production of KINETIX is characterised by a strong experimental imprint, by the interest into the expressive possibilities offered by the digital technologies and by a clear aesthetic inclination towards minimalist forms and micro noises/sounds.” (from the website) Really, the music sounds like a study about a representational work of minimal art. The first CD includes 9 pieces dealing with volume of sound, time and frequencies to underline the relationship between physical space and acoustic space. Clear digital signal-buzz changes with wide open resounding drones evoking superficial sounds and three-dimensionally impressions. The 2-CD shows very reduced sounds conceived for a sound installation. Only the room is the interpreter. High frequencies circle abstract noises, playing with silence.” -soundohm.com

Gianluca Becuzzi & Fabio Orsi – Muddy Speaking Ghosts Through My Machines

Regularly $10.99, right now just $7.99

Cardboard Sleeve.

“This is a collaboration between Fabio Orsi and Gianluca Becuzzi (Kinetix). The unexpected encounter between these different forces, experiences, and visions of these two artists melts perfectly on this album. Drones and rumors, pouring between distant voices and centenary blues songs from the Alan Lomax archive, tow off shreds of ballads, guitars and old keyboards floating on the vibrant surface of a fairy river. Rapture and sweet loss are the main sensations. This could be listed as avant folk, or experimental blues, or ambient roots, or contemporary aesthetics and aching nostalgia.” -coldspring.co.uk

Mauthausen Orchestra – Digression

Regularly $8.99, right now just $6.99

After the recent reprint of ‘historical’ material collected on the ‘Sonic Deprivation’ CD (Silentes sme0930), and the collaboration with Nimh on ‘From Unhealthy Places’ (Silentes sme9032), Mauthausen Orchestra/Pierpaolo Zoppo comes back with brand new tracks and a new album where the fury and aggressiveness of his usual harsh sonorities of a Noise/Power-Electronics nature are merged with more quiet, wide and always dark ambient parts, sometimes surprising us with unexpected and undisclosed pulsating rhythmic-electronic inserts. A great album for a project that has recently born again with an unsuspected and inspired artistic vital energy.
