Ambient master Robert Rich will be performing a “house concert” June 16 at the residence of Denver-based ambient artist Jesse Sola, who records as Numina. This exclusive event is limited to 25 tickets, of which many have already been sold. In order to ensure this even sells out, we’re crossposting Jesse’s announcement. Here it is:
Greetings! This message is being sent to you to announce a live living-room concert performance by Robert Rich on Saturday June 16th in suburban Denver, Colorado.
Who: Robert Rich
When: Saturday, June 16, 2012 / Limited to 25 people
Where: Private residence in suburban Denver (Parker, Colorado)
Cost: $25 per person – PayPal payment
Time: 7:30 PM / Arrive between 6:45 – 7:20
Robert Rich has recently returned from a successful concert tour in Australia and has been gearing up for a limited U.S. tour which has him traveling eastbound from his home in the Bay Area to the Electric Forest Festival in Michigan, we are fortunate that Robert’s travels take him through our city as we once again have a very special opportunity to experience Robert Rich perform in a comfortable, laid-back, and intimate setting at my home in Parker, Colorado.
It’s been a bit of a tradition for Robert to play living room concerts here in the Denver area, including several performances at the residence of my friend Jim Lanpheer, one of which resulted in the release of his phenomenal live album “Calling Down the Sky” (released in 2004). Robert has this to say about this particular performance: “I plan to perform some new pieces including some from Medicine Box and some unreleased “work in progress” with live modular synth. This will be one of only a handful of US concerts that I am playing on my way out to a big festival in Michigan (Electric Forest)”.
This performance is limited to 25 people and will sell out. If you would like to participate, please send a PayPal payment in the amount of $25.00 to my e-mail address at email@example.com – if your only option to pay is by cash then please email me to arrange your reservation. After payment has been received, I will respond as soon as I can with a confirmation message and include specific details about event location, parking instructions, what to bring, what to expect, etc.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions about this event, I will respond as promptly as possible.

Yesterday we announced the new release from Caul on Hypnos Recordings, Let the Stars Assume the Whole of Night. Though our announcement included mp3 sample clips, I know some people enjoy sampling music via video, so here’s a link to a video sampler of tracks from the album.
Steve Brand – Spiritual Science (2012 re-release) (2cdr)
(Relaxed Machinery category)
(Price: $19.99 2cdr)
From the 2009 release notes, Brand says, “I’d been an Ishq (Matt Hiller) fan for about 3-4 years. I found his music as part of my complete immersion in Ultimae material (Ishq kept showing up in the ‘If you like this, you’ll like this’ area of iTunes). I bought ‘Orchid’ and was hooked. I love his atmospheres and beats, the delicacy, expansiveness and expressiveness of feeling, and his intuitive and spiritual approach to music. Really feels like home to me. Anyway, Matt had some free loops of his sounds on his site at that time and I couldn’t resist—I used some in a piece and sent the piece to him, Matt kindly responded. I then suggested a collaboration. He quickly sent me a entire DVD of unique material, and here we are. Very easy and organic. I think everyone will really enjoy these disks which are a very nice mingling of our individual sounds; you can hear the Ishq influence, but overall, probably a bit of a darker journey than his own work, but still spacious, organic, emotive.”
Re-mastered by S. Brand 2011-2012 and re-released on Brand’s Pioneer Light Music label.
One of the toughest places for ambient music to break through on the radio is the syndicated Hearts of Space show. It’s a little easier for more melodic or “musical” sounds, but more difficult for the more abstract stuff. Nebulae has finally broken through to Hearts of Space, from their album The Path of White Clouds. Here’s the playlist (with thanks to Stephen and Steve for this).
